Hakone / Izu Peninsula

In the mountains southwest of Tokyo is Hakone National Park. On top of being the oldest and most known of the spa areas of Japan, Hakone also have an interesting story, beautiful surroundings and a mild climate all year around.
In Hakone is the volcano Owakudani, the boiling valley with its bubbling sculpture water and the Ashi lake form where you can se Mount Fuji. For the Japanese Hakone national park is the most popular place if you want to relax and rebuild energy and power. The popularity is first of all because of the many spas filled with warm water that is brought up form the volcano underground. The water contains a number of minerals that is good for both body and mind. When you take Shinkansen from Tokyo Central Station to get to Hakone, you should get of at Odawara station. At the station you can buy a Hakone Free pass, which gives you 2 or 3 days access to unlimited use of busses, boats, trains and the cable car to the Hakone crater. It also provides you discount to some of the sights.
